Career and Technical Programs
Career and Technical Programs are college credit programs designed to meet student career goals and workforce needs. The College offers more than 125 innovative career and technical college credit programs. Each program is taught by experienced faculty from the career areas. Career and technical courses connect real-world application with theory and many courses involve hands-on learning. Students can complete some certificate programs in one semester.
Eastern Florida offers the following career and technical programs:
- Associate in Science (A.S.)
The Associate in Sciences is a two-year technical degree that contains a minimum of 15-18 credit hours of transferable general education. Some A.S. degrees will articulate to universities. All EFSC A.S. degrees will transfer to the EFSC BAS degrees. - Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC)
Advanced Technical Certificates are designed for individuals who have already completed an associate in science degree (or an associate in applied science) and are seeking advanced, specialized preparation in a particular career field to supplement their degree. An ATC can only be awarded to someone with an A.S. or AAS EFSC offers ATCs in a few limited career areas in which advanced training beyond the associate degree level is needed. - Applied Technology Diploma (ATD)
The Applied Technology Diploma (ATD) is part of an A.S. degree and leads to employment in a specific occupation - College Credit Certificates (CCC)
College Credit Certificates are short-term career education program that are part of an A.S. degree. - Career and Technical Certificates (CTC)
Courses in the Career and Technical Certificates consist of job preparatory programs, excluding Continuing Workforce Education, through which a student receives a vocational certificate upon completion of instruction.
Both technical degrees and vocational programs are developed and maintained with assistance from technical advisory committees. These committees consist of experts from local companies or organizations. The committees are actively involved in reviewing the curriculum, equipment, and facilities, and preparing recommendations that assist the college in keeping programs current with workplace practices. Program managers, faculty, and advisors are available to provide students with assistance in course planning and career preparation. Day, evening and online classes are available. Financial Aid is available for most programs.
