Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
Each Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that is 450 hours or longer has associated basic academic skills (reading, mathematics and language) that are required for completion of each CTE program. Unless exempt by SBE Rule 6A-10.040 or 6A-10.0315 F.A.C., students enrolling in these state-designated programs are required to submit TABE scores no more than two years old. Students must complete the TABE within six weeks of the beginning of their first term of classes. Students who do not meet the required TABE score in any area can begin coursework in the certificate program but must complete remediation of skills prior to graduation. Students who have not completed the TABE by the end of their first semester will not be allowed to enroll in any program courses until the TABE is completed. To establish a remediation plan, students are encouraged to seek advice from their Academic Advisor to develop a personal review plan. Options include utilizing an online material review program, purchase of review materials, and/or support from the Academic Success Center with use of review materials or one on one tutoring.
