This course covers the application of the Internal Revenue Code and tax preparation software to prepare personal tax returns. Concepts covered include: income inclusions and exclusions; business income and expenses; itemized deductions; credits and special taxes. Rules regarding capital gains/losses and depreciation are covered.

This course provides an introduction to federal income taxation and is designed for the students pursuing a career in accounting. It develops a basic understanding of the federal income tax laws as they relate to individuals and businesses and provides a framework for integrating income tax planning into their decision-making process.
